For over five decades, the Indian Society of Western Australia (ISWA) has been the cultural heartbeat of Perth's Indian diaspora, organising flagship events like Diwali Mela, fostering cross-generational connection, and championing Indian arts, language and heritage. But their website had not kept pace. An aging structure, confusing navigation, and densely packed content were making it difficult for members to find event details, for newcomers to discover how to get involved, and for the society to project the energy and inclusivity that define its real-world presence.

The Brief

Reimagine ISWA's digital presence as a warm, well-organised, and easily usable hub. The new website had to serve a broad audience: long-standing members, young families, recent migrants, and the wider Perth community interested in Indian culture. It needed to make events impossible to miss, simplify membership sign-ups, and celebrate the society's rich history without overwhelming visitors. Central to the brief was a sitemap restructure: adding, deleting and reorganising pages and subpages until the architecture felt as welcoming and logical as a well-run community centre.

Our Approach

From the discovery phase, we mapped distinct user journeys for each key audience: the longtime member looking for an event calendar, the new migrant seeking community connection, the parent exploring cultural language classes for their children, and the sponsor wanting visibility at major celebrations.

We then turned to the sitemap. We removed redundant pages, merged scattered fragments of related content, and created new, purpose-built sections that had been missing entirely. A dedicated events hub now anchors the site, giving every festival, workshop, and community gathering its own spotlight with clear date, time, and registration details. Membership pathways were streamlined into a dedicated section with straightforward tiers, benefits, and an online sign-up form that feeds directly into the society's database.

Overall, we brought the warmth of Indian culture onto the screen through a rich, inviting colour palette anchored by crisp, modern layouts. Intuitive navigation and calls-to-action guide visitors naturally from curiosity to participation. We built the site on a responsive, content management framework that gives ISWA's team the autonomy to add events, publish news, and update galleries with ease. SEO foundations ensure the society surfaces prominently when someone searches for Indian cultural events or community groups in Perth.

The Outcome

A digital presence that finally feels like ISWA: vibrant, inclusive, and deeply connected. The restructured site now tells the society's story with clarity and pride, makes it effortless for members and newcomers alike to discover events and join in, and gives the committee a platform they can grow without technical barriers. The website stands as a community gathering place: open to all, alive with culture, and ready to carry the Indian Society of Western Australia into its next chapter.
