Heirloom Honey Co.

Nestled in the wilderness of Western Australia, Heirloom Honey Co. cultivates a remarkable legacy: harvesting precious Jarrah honey from some of the world’s most ancient forests. Each jar tells a story of place and time, distinguished not only by its rich flavour and health benefits but also by its profound connection to an ecosystem centuries in the making. Central to their ethos is the Forest Age Rating (FAR) system which traces every batch back to the age and uniqueness of its forest origin. 

OKMG was engaged to deliver a visual identity worthy of their story and the product itself. From high-end logo design and custom packaging to comprehensive brand roll-out, we built a visual language that speaks of origin and authenticity. The accompanying website acts as a digital gateway to Heirloom Honey Co., using immersive visuals to showcase its scientific process, generational beekeeping heritage, and pristine locations. 

When Heirloom Honey Co. approached OKMG with their vision to transform rare West Australian honey into a global luxury brand, we knew this project demanded something extraordinary. The challenge? Position their ancient forest honey as a premium product that could compete internationally while honouring its pristine origins.

We began with foundational brand development - creating the company name “Heirloom Honey Co.” to evoke heritage and generational craftsmanship. Our logo design and brand identity captured the essence of three generations of beekeeping expertise sourcing honey from ancient Australian forests. 

Our most innovative contribution was the Forest Age Rating (FAR) system. This framework highlights the honey's exclusive provenance from ancient trees in old-growth forests, forming the core of the brand's premium positioning.

In defining the product architecture, we developed two distinct ranges: the flagship Old Growth Harvest (for the most exclusive Jarrah honey sourced from parts of the forest with Jarrah trees over 300+ years old) and Premium Harvest Collection (for Jarrah, Marri, and Yarri varieties sourced from parts of the forest with trees over 200+ years old). Each needed its own visual identity while maintaining brand cohesion.

The physical product design elevated the experience to match the honey's rarity. We created bespoke packaging featuring gold-leaf etched jars, custom Jarrah wood lids, and handmade tasting dippers using recycled Jarrah. Every touchpoint – from labels to gift boxes – reinforced the luxury positioning.

Supporting the launch, we developed comprehensive marketing collateral including brochures and training presentations that educated consumers about the health benefits and antimicrobial properties of Australian eucalypt honey compared to Manuka.

The digital presence came together through a custom WordPress and WooCommerce platform, enabling direct-to-consumer sales alongside their retail strategy.

The results speak volumes. Heirloom Honey Co. has successfully launched into duty-free retail and is expanding across China, UK, US, and beyond. By transforming an exceptional product into a one-of-a-kind brand experience, we've helped position Australian honey as the new global luxury standard.
